Walter Edward Wood Jr. passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 7, 1949, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Walter was a cherished and beloved individual known for his kind-hearted and faithful nature.
Walter's early life was shaped by his parents, Walter Edward Wood Sr. and Lois Burrow-Wood. He earned a master's degree in social work from Oklahoma City University. Walter lived in Arkansas and Missouri before moving to Oklahoma to marry his wife, Lucy June Wood.
In his professional life, Walter was a manager in the Oklahoma City area for many years before his retirement. He was also an ordained minister and a licensed ham radio operator.
Walter had a deep love for bluegrass and gospel music, enjoyed reading historical fiction, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He was a black belt in karate and loved telling stories. His dog Archie, who has predeceased him, was a beloved companion.
Walter was a loving uncle and grandfather who loved Christ and taught his family the values of responsibility and respect.
He is survived by his sister Lois Shockley, nephew Joseph Shockley, grandchildren Stephany Masters, Steven Masters, and Patrick Masters, niece Sammi Shockley, as well as three great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Visitation will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, located at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116, on November 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on November 20, 2025, at 2:00 pm. The committal service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK, 73118.
Pallbearers will include Kenneth Shockley, Joe Shockley, Timothy Shockley, Stephan Masters, Patrick Masters, and Chuck Masters.
Walter will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, and the legacy of love he left behind.
