Wilber Crane Eveland otherwise known as Crane was born on December 28,1945 to parents Marjorie Vernell (Kellogg) and Wilber Crane Eveland in San Bernardino, California. He moved around quite a bit in his early life; he attended a couple years of elementary school in Bagdad, attended military school in Virginia and attended high school in Wellington, Kansas.
After high school, Crane completed some college, attending Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. He then decided to venture away from the nest, moving to Singapore and living there for a few years for business. He loved exploring the different cultures around Europe and Singapore. Crane met his first wife, Lis, in Singapore, and they ended up moving back to the states to Detroit where he began working on hydroplanes. While in Detroit, his daughter Monique was born. Crane’s hydroplane work took him all over the country before they settled back in Wellington, Kansas, where his son Michael was born. He and Lis parted ways, and he eventually made his final move to Oklahoma City after he met Patti. They were married on February 16, 1991.
A perfect day for Crane would be spending the day with his wife and family, watching car races or NFL Football. His favorite teams were the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed watching the crashing waves of the ocean, and listening to his favorite music artists, ZZ Top and Santana. Crane was an amazing artist, he loved to paint. Among his other talents, he had a passion for restoring vintage cars and took great pride in his work.
Crane had a dry sense of humor and would always get a kick out of the funny things Patti would say. He was a very kind and loving husband, father and papa, for as much as he loved vintage cars, he loved his family twice as much. He loved to spend time with his family, he had so many cherished memories with everyone he held close to his heart. Among Crane’s many accomplishments he was also a member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Orchid Society.
Although he has passed on, he will always be remembered through the memories created and the love that he has shared.
Crane was preceded in death by his parents Wilber Crane and Marjorie Vernell (Kellogg) Eveland.
He is survived by his wife Patti Eveland, his children; Monique Eveland of Seattle, Washington, Michael and wife Tara Eveland of Tacoma, Washington, step-daughter Jenni and Husband Matt Borror, and step-son Mike Kahn of Oklahoma City, along with seven grandchildren; Maddie Borror, Luke Borror, Riley Kahn, Deaglan Peery, Ellie Borror, Austin Kahn, and Lena Eveland and fur baby Stella who’s a Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix.
