William Mack Maynor, passed away on Dec. 14th in Noman, OK. Son of John E. Maynor and Henry Ann Mullins Maynor, he was born on May 27, 1916 in Goodwater, OK. During the Oklahoma Dust Bowl and the Great Depression, Bill (or Mack as he was known by his family) lived with 2 brothers and 6 sisters, on a farm just south of Oklahoma City. His family moved to Oklahoma City where he graduated from Capitol Hill High School. After high school he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), working in the national forests of California. With his brother, James Porter, he then attended Oklahoma A & M, (now Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, OK on a work/study program. In 1940 he joined the Army Air Corp (now the United Sates Air Force). He was a bomber pilot during WWII and was shot down over Germany where he spent 17 months as a prison of war. After 23 years he retired from the Air Force and made his home in Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his children, William R. Maynor or Fairborn, OH, Carol J. Libutti of Spokane, WA and Debra Wrobel of Oklahoma City, OK, his grandchildren Jessaca Smith, Melissa Wrobel, Andrea Danielson, Matthew Wrobel and Katie Libutti. He also has 4 great-grandchildren Ava Danielson, Asher Danielson, Mason Wrobel & Lucas Wrobel. He is also survived by his nieces Sandra Troy of Dallas, TX and Wendi Lindley of Lawton, OK, and nephews Paul Porter of Oklahoma City, David Porter of Dallas TX and Michael Porter of Oklahoma City.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Mickey Ford Maynor, his second wife Maxine Randall Maynor, his sister Bendette Smith and his brothers John Porter and James Porter.
A funeral service will be held at Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, OKC Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 2pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery.
