

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Fate, Texas on January 23, 1919 to Clarence
Drew and Irma Sawyer. He grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from NW Classen
High School.
Bill served with the Air Force and while stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas, met his first
wife Elenora Grant. They married in April of 1945. First attending East Texas State
College in Commerce he then graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Bill was hired by a college classmate to be an accountant at John Barbour Trucking Co in
Iowa Park, Texas. He later worked for an oil producer in Wichita Falls and finally for
one in Oklahoma City.
After Elenora's death, Bill married Jaunice McDonald in January of 1998 and lived in
Oklahoma City. They had met while both lived in Iowa Park, Texas when their children
were growing up. For years, Bill was active in the choir at Northwest Christian Church in
Oklahoma City. Jaunice joined him there in 1998.
His parents, Clarence Drew and Irma Sawyer, his first wife, Elenora Sawyer, and his two
sisters Gaynelle Turner and Margaret Lybrand precede Bill in death. He is survived by
his wife Jaunice Sawyer, his daughter and son-in-law Sally and Bill Jones of Logan,
Utah, his son and daughter-in-law Drew Grant and Emy Lou Sawyer of Austin, Texas,
his grandchildren, Eric and Ayako Jones and their two daughters Kylee and Layla of
Logan, Utah; Lacy Sawyer and Sean McIntosh and their son Grady of Austin, Texas;
Drew Scott and Lily Sawyer and their daughter Charlotte of Austin, Texas, and Grant
Settle Sawyer of Washington, D.C. Bill's wife's children, Jeff and Nancy McDonald of
Charlottesville, Virginia and Mike McDonald of Waynesville, North Carolina, also
survive him.
Bill's family would like to thank the people at Brookdale Assisted Living in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma and Centennial Hospice for the loving care given to Bill during the last several
months. Services will be held in celebration of Bill's life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at
1:30 p.m. at the Northwest Christian Church in Oklahoma City. Any donations in Bill’s
name could be given to the charity of your choice, or to Northwest Christian Church,
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hospice Austin, or Dell Children's Hospital, Austin, TX.
