William Baird was an only child born to Isabel & Baird Whetstone. He traveled extensively growing up, but Grand Lake Colorado remained a favorite vacation spot throughout his life. He graduated from UCO in 1962 with a BA in Geography and sociology/history minors. Bill served in the Air Force Reserves as a Staff Sergeant from 1962-1968. He worked in sales/management throughout his career, and retired in 1998 as a manager for the State Department of Tourism & Recreation. He loved gardening, travel, and photography. Dad was an active member of his Northwest Classen Highschool alumni, and contributed his time and finances towards scholarships and school improvements.
He is survived by his daughter, Kandy Myers, and husband Mike of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, Chris Whetstone and wife, Grace of Arlington, TX, and Matt Whetstone and Wife Mary Ann of Arlington, Texas; grandsons; Gerrod & wife Andria Myers of Arlington, TX and Tanner Myers of Mustang, OK; granddaughters, Kayla, Olivia, & Bella Whetstone, of Arlington, TX.
He will be missed by cousins, friends, and their extended families. Bill has finally joined “Pop & Mom”, his parents, and received eternal healing.
