Wynona Lynette Clayton, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was born on May 15, 1941, in Hastings, Oklahoma, to George Price and Ida Price. She passed away on September 15, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 85
Wynona lived a life defined by love, compassion, and devotion to family. A homemaker throughout her life, she dedicated herself to caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and all those who found a place in her heart and home. Her greatest joy came from nurturing others and ensuring everyone around her felt welcomed, supported, and loved
She married the love of her life, Robert Alvin Clayton, on June 11, 1958. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. They were blessed with four children: Robby Clayton, Pamela Williams, Lance Clayton, and Melenda "Sissy" Clayton-Hamersley. In addition to raising their own children, Wynona and Robert lovingly raised five others under their guardianship: Jackie, Sharon, and
grandchildren Lance Jr., Michael, and Felicha Clayton. Their home was always open to anyone in need of family, encouragement, or love.
Wynona attended Midwest City Schools and was a faithful member of Life Church, formerly known as Union Grove Church, in Oklahoma City. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Family was the center of Wynona's world. Many cherished memories were made on camping trips to Lake Texoma, where she would load up the motor home and boat and spend long summer weekends creating unforgettable experiences for her family. No matter where they were, she made sure everyone was cared for and well fed, often preparing three full meals a day even while camping. She also enjoyed traveling on the motorcycle alongside her husband, supporting him through every adventure they shared together. Bowling with family and friends brought her great joy and many happy memories.
Wynona was a gifted and talented crafter whose creativity knew no bounds. She loved sewing clothes for her
children and excelled at flower arranging, crocheting, ceramics, and freehand painting. Her talents, along with the many handmade treasures she created, remain a lasting reminder of her love and dedication to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Melenda "Sissy" Clayton-Hamersley of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Clayton of Heavener, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Alvin Clayton; her parents, George Price and Ida Price; her sons, Robby Clayton, Jackie Clayton, and Lance Clayton; her daughter, Pamela Williams; her son-in-law, Rick Hamersley; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Clayton; and her brother, Carl Price, and his wife, Bobbie Price.
Wynona's legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, strength, creativity, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a family rich in memories and lifelong lessons, all of whom were blessed by her generous heart. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to inspire future generations.
"A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose greatest gift was making everyone feel like family."
