

When Zella was 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Jack Shutler. They spent the next 70 years building a family, being blessed with 2 children. Zella loved to be with family and all the family get togethers during birthdays and holidays. Her faith was also important to her and she was very active in Southpark Baptist Church. She enjoyed working at Vocational Bible School with the kids and she also hosted senior citizens game night. She loved working with children and was a cafeteria manager for Moore Public Schools for over 30 years.
Zella loved the outdoors, she grew up working on the farm and she wasn’t shy of hard work, which led to her having a “her way” independent personality. She loved to fish and garden, at the lake property, she had a big garden and she would can what she grew. Everyone particularly loved her Picante Sauce and pickled beets. Zella also loved travelling, her and Jack would load up the van and make sure they got to the campground early because Zella loved to people watch. When she wasn’t spending time outdoors, she was watching the Hallmark channel. Zella enjoyed watching Ryan Peavey and she knew all the movies and even had some of them memorized. She also spent her time doing puzzles.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Allen Shutler and wife, Tammy and Jacqueline Ann Hester and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Angie Farrell, Dennis Shane Rodgers, Amanda Espinoza and husband, Carmelo Espinoza, Tessa Dawn Ellyson, Alyssa Beth Parks and husband, Austin Parks, Larissa Lane Shutler, Dr. Ryan Meeks and wife, Dr. Stephanie Meeks; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family.
Zella is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jack Shutler; parents, Zene and Alice Maddux; and siblings, James Maddux, Gayle Maddux, and Ellen Mauldin.
Visitation for Zella will be held at Advantage Funeral Home located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania, Ave, OKC, OK on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10 am at Southpark Baptist Church located at 2900 SW 119th St, OKC, OK. Interment will follow at Moore City Cemetery, Moore, OK.
