Anita Elaine Sawyer, 66, of Merriam, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 14, 2022. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew.
Anita was born on March 12, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Billy Lee and Gloria Ann (Heydon) Bryant. She attended and graduated from Raytown South High School where she was an active member of the Pep Squad. After graduation she earned her Associate’s Degree at Longview Community College. She worked in sales for the Presto Company. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than the times she spent with her grandchildren.
Anita is preceded in death by her father Billy Lee Bryant, her husband Terry “Buz” Lee Sawyer, and her daughter-in-law Caitlin Burcham. She is survived by her mother Gloria Ann Bryant-Cobb of Grain Valley, Missouri, two sons; Daniel Burcham of Chatsworth, California, James Sawyer of Springhill, Kansas, three daughters; Kathryn (Katie) Black and her husband Rusty of Prairie Village, Kansas, Keri Martsolf and her husband Philip of Overland Park, Kansas, Deanna Sawyer of Kansas City, Missouri and Anita's former husband Clifford Burcham of Leawood, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren; Gracie Black, Corbin Black, Grey Burcham, Andrew Martsolf and Riley Martsolf. She will be sadly missed by her four brothers; Don Bryant and his wife Becky of Lawrence, Indiana, Dale Bryant and his wife Barbara of Independence, Missouri, Bob Bryant of Kansas City, Missouri, Tim Bryant and his wife Pam of Blue Springs, Missouri and her sister Ginny Warner and her husband Frank of Raytown, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road Leavenworth, Kansas. In memory of her, we are asking friends and family to wear purple, her favorite color, to the services. Visitation will be Thursday, February 24th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: American Stroke Foundation.
