Ava Rose exploded into our lives on October 20, 2012. She was a beautiful, stubborn, determined little fighter, with the sweetest voice you’ve ever heard. She did everything at her own pace, fast. It’s as if she knew her time was limited and she was going to pack as much into life as possible. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor on February 5, 2014. She had surgery and suffered side effects. She was determined and through physical therapy was fighting her way back.
She maintained her beautiful smile and attitude through all that was to follow. She became a hero to everyone around her. Many who had never even met her, but loved her and were pulling for her to beat her disease. Sadly she was called to Heaven on Sunday March 16, 2014 after a short but hard fought battle.
Ava was preceded in death by her maternal grandma Susan Rose Burden, who we are sure was waiting there with open arms for her.
Ava is survived by her parents Brian and Jessica Pogue and her 8 year old brother Christian, all of Topeka, Ks. Her maternal grandparents Vicki Eldridge and Virgil Burden of Olathe, Ks. And Bill Zuel of Pleasant Hill, La. Also paternal grandparents Gary Mawle and Anita Cantrell of Olathe, Ks. And James Pogue Sr. of Independence, Mo. She also leaves great grandparents Margaret Hoschouer of Olathe, Ks. Geraldine Burden of Emporia, Ks. And Pat and Les Zuel of Pleasant Hill, La. And countless Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to be made to Ava’s Journey @ youcaring.com or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City @ rmhckc.org.
