Bernadine was born on March 17, 1933, in Waterloo, IA to William & Jessie Beasley. Bernadine married John Johnson on December 25, 1948. Bernadine & John were happily married for 45 years until John died in 1993. After mourning the death of her husband Bernadine met Edward Davidson in 1994 and they were married shortly after on August 25, 1995. They had a very long and happy marriage of 24 years until Edward passed away in 2019. Bernadine’s passions were spending time with her family and friends. She loved horseback riding, dancing, singing, caring for her garden, and traveling. She was very philanthropic and loved giving back to her community and caring for others. She touched many lives with her love, kindness, and hospitality. Bernadine professed her love for Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Lord & Savior at a young age. She attended church her entire adult life and was very involved in church activities such as teaching Sunday school and singing in the church choir. She retired from a long and fulfilling career at Olathe Medical Center as the manager of housekeeping in 1995.
Bernadine is survived by 5 children: Richard Johnson, Patricia Grossman, David Johnson, Sharon Perry, and Rebecca Fry. She also inherited 5 stepchildren during her marriage to Edward Davidson: Dan Davidson, Keith Davidson, Kathy Bender, and Theresa Richardson. Bernadine is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to Bernie’s Celebration of Life on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 1:00 PM CST. Services will be held at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E Loula St Olathe, KS 66061.
