Bobbie Durwood Jennings

Bobbie Durwood Jennings died on June 14th in Olathe, Kansas surrounded by his loving daughter and family. Bob was born on a farm near Harrisburg, Missouri to Vernice and E.V. Jennings on May 25th, 1928.

Throughout his life he stayed close to his parents and siblings; Jo, Leta, and John.

After high school he married Dorothy Dean Minor, of Rocheport, Missouri, on February 28th, 1947. They moved to Kansas City where Bob worked for the Coco-Cola company for a year, then started his career at Hallmark Cards until his retirement in 1983. While working for Hallmark he enlisted in the Navy, and served in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bob and Dorothy settled in Desoto Kansas, with their two children Robin Kimberlea and Steven Durwood, where Bob was an active member of the Lyon’s Club.

After retirement, they became what Dorothy called “Gypsies”, travelling around the country in their 5th wheel trailer. They became part of a fun community of Winter Texans, who often traveled to the beach and Mexico together in Harlingen, Texas. They purchased many homes including in Desoto (again), the Lake of the Ozarks, Glasgow, Missouri, and finally Windsor, Missouri. Bob loved remodeling and improving their homes, gardening (including winning a prize for the “Biggest Tomato”) and being a general tinkerer. Throughout all their adventures, they still made time for their family and loved spending time with their grandchildren; Cali, Cassie, Bobbie Jo, and Jake.
