Bobbye Jean Elliott, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted servant of faith, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and quiet strength.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, to John E. and Mary Lothers (Ewing), Bobbye grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma, alongside brothers Bill and Jack. Her father’s tenure at Oklahoma State University shaped her early years, and it was in Stillwater where Bobbye’s love for music blossomed—she played piano and participated in high school band.
It was also in Stillwater that she met and married Sam Elliott, a young engineering student whose life would be forever bound together with hers. After Sam’s graduation, the couple moved to Wichita with their first son, Steve, and later settled in Olathe, Kansas, where they welcomed two more sons, Keith and Kyle.
Bobbye’s life was marked by quiet dedication—to her family, her church, and her friends. She served faithfully as a church pianist, supported her father’s academic work as a manuscript typist, and worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses, including engineering firms and, most recently, for Paco Design. Her spirit and unwavering commitment touched many lives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and Jack Lothers, her husband Sam, and her son Keith Alan. She is survived by her sons Steve (Patricia) and Kyle, and seven cherished grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Wycliffe Bible Translators with project name for the ministry of Mike and Laura Lothers (https://www.wycliffe.org/projects/give-your-gift-in-honor-or-memory-of-a-loved-one).
Her life was one of love, faith, and support—and her memory will live in the hearts of those who knew her.
A love for three boys her love was unquestioned;
A faithful wife, her love beyond question;
A believer in Christ, she was faithful to the end;
Her love for her grandchildren is also without end!
