Branson Howard Moore, born October 6, 1933 went peacefully to his maker on January 25, 2025. He grew up during the depression in Southeast Nebraska with his parents Howard and Bessie and two older sisters, Marjorie (Mick) and Carol, He graduated from Nemaha High School, then attended Peru State College before transferring to the University of Nebraska where he received his law degree. While in high school he met Betty Haynes, who became his wife on June 12, 1955. They were married over 68 years and had 3 children, Lindsay, Vanessa and Todd.
Branson joined the Army during peace time and was stationed at the Pentagon serving as a Judge Advocate General. After Leaving Virginia, they moved back to Lincoln where he found his professional calling with the Veterans Administration, serving nearly 35 years as an attorney in Nebraska, then as District Consul for North Dakota and Western Minnesota. Upon retirement, Branson began his dream job, running the Ponderosa Golf club with Betty assisting him. In 1999 they moved to Olathe, Kansas to be near family.
Branson loved his beautiful wife, Betty, his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. Branson was known as an attorney, a great friend, neighbor, fisherman, duffer, faith leader, coach, supporter of the downtrodden, a Husker fan, and a Democrat. He was well liked, generous and a great hugger. Growing up in his small community, he learned about respecting others, developed his faith, and learned that he wasn’t cut out to be a farmer. He was not a handyman, but believed in the barter system, exchanging doing others‘ taxes for house or car repairs. He enjoyed serving in his church by leading worship, serving communion, and as Chairman of the Board.
Branson is preceded in passing by his wife, Betty, sister Marjorie Rider, and grandson Branson Wilson Moore. He is survived by his children Lindsay Coleman (Don) of Mesa, AZ, Vanessa Roberts (Les) of Sumter, SC and Todd Moore (Lori) of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his sister, Carol of Lincoln, NE, six grandchildren Jenna Miller (John), NY, Pierce Roberts (Ana), FL, Chalker Coleman (Devon), ID, Nash Coleman, AZ, Lauren Moore, MO, Lindon Coleman, AZ, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. will be Friday, March 14, 2025 at First Christian Church, 200 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at Aberdeen Village at 17500 West 119th St., Olathe, KS 66061
