Brenda was the daughter of the late Billy Darrell Boyd and Norma Jean (Fishlie). A proud graduate of Olathe High School, she dedicated over 40 years of her life working as a legal secretary in the legal system, where she was known for her diligence, kindness, and sharp mind.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerome (Jerry), her cherished daughter Jessica Smith, and her parents.
She is survived by her son Todd Green of Olathe, KS; her brother Steven Darrell Boyd of Olathe, KS; her stepbrother Wade Chealoud of Paola, KS; and her stepsister Laurie Duffy of Pleasant Hill, MO. Brenda was a loving grandmother to Dezy Smith, Cecilia “CeeCee” Smith, and Danaisha Smith, and a proud great-grandmother to Millani Smith.
Brenda’s life was centered around her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. She found comfort in simple pleasures — shopping on the Home Shopping Network, discovering new finds on Amazon, getting lost in a good book, and spending quiet hours working on puzzles. She also shared a deep bond with her three beloved dogs — Bear, Sheila, and Sage — who were her loyal companions and brought her comfort and joy throughout the years.
Brenda will be remembered for her warm heart, steadfast spirit, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and devotion.
She will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
