Bryan Duncan passed on January 12, 2022, after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. He went peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family. Bryan is survived by his wife, Lori, his 4 sons and their wives, Dan and Amanda, Chris and Kelly, James, and Luke and Brittany, his mother Gwen, grandsons Alexander and Kaiden, granddaughter Marie, sister Debby Giesinger and her family, sister Nancy Gotchey and her family and brother Jeff Duncan and his family. Bryan is preceded in death by his father George Duncan.
Bryan spent 8 years in the U.S. Navy, where he attained the rank of Petty Officer First class, and garnered the Naval Expeditionary Medal. He toured all over the world on the U.S.S. Eisenhower; his favorite location during these tours being Djibouti, in East Africa. After serving his country, Bryan went on to obtain his Aerospace and Propulsion License, spending the next 33 years following his passion working aircraft maintenance, over 20 of those years where with United Airlines.
Bryan’s wry sense of humor was always the spotlight at family gatherings. The cheap camel ride into the Egyptian desert will forever be a warning to ensure no one gets ripped off by the return ride!
Memorial service will be Friday, January 21, at 2 p.m., preceded by the viewing at 1 p.m. These events will take place at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E Loula, Olathe, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to The Head for the Cure Foundation, https://headforthecure.org/content/donate, for Glioblastoma research.
