

Carol Lynn Phillips (George), 77, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Santa Marta Senior Living Community under the care of Catholic Community Hospice Health and surrounded by her loved ones.
Carol was born in Eudora, Kansas, July 14, 1948, to Francis ‘Vince’ George of Walnut, Kansas born March 31, 1915 (1/10/2010) and Doretha Bernadette (Deemy) George of Iola, Kansas born March 11, 1921 (1984).
She married the love of her life, Cole Phillips Jr., November 22, 1991. She built a family while working full time. She retired from Bayer Corp Science in Stillwell, Kansas in the early 2000’s.
She was a devout Catholic. A member of the once St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas, and recently of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Port Isabel, Texas for 6 months out of the year for nearly 17 years. And a member of Our Lady of Lourdes in La Cygne, Kansas and Queen of the Holy Rosary in Wea, Kansas the other remaining months of the year. Carol enjoyed casual bike rides and walks with Cole and her dogs, Gracie and Fonzi. She and her husband developed a lifelong passion for windsurfing early in their marriage. This hobby stayed with them and often took them to local parks and beautiful destination locations. You could find her and Cole camping or glamping the majority of the year. She shared this love for camping with her children and grandchildren. In her downtime she was an avid reader and an amazing gardener. She had a plentiful vocabulary, witty tongue and sharp mind. She enjoyed her time alone but flourished in social outings with her husband, family and South Padre Island (SPI) friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Vincent and Doretha George, sister; Mary Jo George, stepchildren; Cole Phillips III, grandchildren; Cameron Ball and Ashley Ball.
She is survived by her husband, Cole Phillips Jr, siblings; Phyllis (George) Brittingham, Louise (Matt) Gladbach, Barbara Randall, Alice George and Frank (Desiree) George, children; Stephanie Cox, Russell (Jessica) Cox, Andrea (Scott) McGuire, and Ariana (David) Vasquez, step children; Debbie (Phil) Boan, Kimberly Phillips, grandchildren; Lauren Ball, Tyler Ball, Mitchell (Sara) Ball, Madyson Ball, Lillianna Ball, Sophia Vasquez, Emilia Vasquez, Gabriel Vasquez and Dominic Vasquez, Nacole Boan, Lauren (John) Johnson and great-grandkids; Blake Forsythe, Waylen Ball, Brody Ball, Cooper Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Graham Johnson.
Her friends and family are welcome to join us at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home for visitation Monday, May 11, 2026 at 10:00, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM and inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS at 12:15 PM. The family suggests contributions to Catholic Community Hospice Health, and/or American Cancer Society.
