Lifelong Olathe resident, Charles M. Hollinger, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, September 18, 2015.
Known by all as Chuck, he was born on October 6, 1936 in Olathe to Harold and Thelma (Ross) Hollinger. He was a successful businessman in Olathe for many years having owned a hardware/sporting goods store and later Jayhawk Graphics, an awards, silk screening, chenille and Swiss embroidery business. Chuck was a graduate of Olathe High School, Class of '54, where he was an exceptional athlete. He was the single game high scorer with 27 points in the Kansas Class A Basketball State Tournament in 1954. Chuck was also a State Class Performer in the high jump and 800 meter run and in addition, he was an outstanding baseball first baseman. Chuck was a graduate of Baker University and a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
Chuck is survived by his mother, Thelma, of Olathe; son, Jeff and grandchildren, Josh and Abby, all of Eudora, Kansas. Chuck will be sorely missed by his peers who always affectionately referred to him as one of a kind.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Baker University in honor of Charles M. Hollinger.
