Christine was born to Ernest P.J. and Mary (Marie) Elizabeth (Goodenough) Lefevre on the 5th of October, 1927 in the western rural Missouri community of Hume. Her father immigrated with his family from Belgium at an early age, while her mother was of English heritage.
As a child, Christine learned many lifelong skills and hobbies helping her parents on their farm with household chores and long hours on the tractor. Gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and her family gave Christine the greatest joy throughout her life.
Christine attended Adrian High School, earning her GED as an adult. She married Alfred E. King on January 25,1946 after he returned from Europe as a decorated World War II veteran. Christine and Alfred had two daughters, Sharon Lea and Sheila Kay. The family moved to Olathe Kansas in 1956, where Christine lived the next 50 plus years of her life.
Known by her family for her homemade chicken & noodles and yeast rolls, Christine began vocational education courses during the 1960’s to master her cooking skills. She then worked for the Olathe School District and Kansas School for the Deaf as a cook in the Food Services Division, sharing her joy of cooking until her retirement at age 68.
Christine was a devout lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Olathe. She volunteered and attended many church activities, including Bible studies and quilting groups.
At the age of 80, Christine moved to Villa Ventura, an independent living retirement community in Kansas City, Missouri, where she remained active up until her death.
