

She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend
to everyone she met.
Darlene was born on October 6, 1931 in Herndon, Kansas to William Joseph and Stella Marie (Reiner) Tongish. She attended and graduated from Herndon High School. After high school she started nurses training at Saint Catherine’s Hospital in McCook Nebraska. She was able to work a long side other nurses that taught her what she needed, to earn her nurses degree and to become a surgical nurse within the hospital. Her nursing career gave her the satisfaction of helping others before she retired at the age of 79. Darlene was a dedicated member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents: William and Stella Tongish, husband: Richard Holub who passed away in 1953, husband: William (Bill) Boyd who passed away in 1985, and husband of 20 years Jack Horn who passed away on May 12, 2013. Darlene is now reunited with her son: Joe Holub who passed away on June 6, 2012 along with her sisters: Dorothy Helen Tongish, Clementine Herron and brother: Duane Tongish.
Darlene is survived by her daughter: Sharon K. Barnes and her husband Kenny of Louisburg, Kansas. Other survivors include her four grandchildren: Tim Barnes and his wife Crystal of Louisburg, Kansas, Billy Barnes and (Amber Popek) of Louisburg, Kansas, Danny Holub of Linn Valley, Kansas and Danielle Holub of Gardner, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her seven great grandchildren. Cameron Barnes, Steven Holub, Chad Barnes, Andrew Snyder, Ericka Holub, Alexis Holub and Emmalee Holub.
A Prayer Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Paul Catholic Church 900 South Honeysuckle Drive Olathe, Kansas 66061.
