Deby was born January 27, 1955 in Riley, Kansas. As a lifelong Kansan, Deby spent her youth helping out on her grandparents’ farm, participating in softball, basketball and throwing events and as a member of the fraternal order of the Rebaekahs. After attending Kansas State University, pursuing a degree in Special Education, Deby moved to Wichita. There she met and married her “other half,” Marc, began their family and commenced her career in the banking industry.
Deby’s greatest love and life accomplishment was her family as she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Together, Deby and Marc weathered the valleys, celebrated the peaks, and found humor in the crazy, chaotic ride of life. In her daughters, she instilled the importance of caring for others, perseverance, poise and grace. She was their unwavering support, voice of guidance and source of strength and wisdom. Lovingly called “Mema”, Deby would relish every opportunity to dote on her grandchildren and was overjoyed to spoil them with love and cuddles. No job was better suited nor joy greater to Deby than that of being a grandmother.
Always a great listener and confidant, friends and strangers alike were drawn to her caring and selfless personality. There was not a struggle too difficult or problem too big that Deby could not find a way to provide a positive outlook and heartfelt support.
The perpetual “Queen of Celebration”, Deby loved decorating her home in anticipation of every (yes every) holiday and amassed quite the collection of festive attire. She also enjoyed shopping, especially the thrill of the hunt in finding the perfect purchase at a bargain. Whether cuddling babies in the nursery at church, helping at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, or hosting friends for dinner, Deby delighted in the opportunity to spread her joy and love with others,
Deby is survived by her husband Marc, two loving daughters Kristina Faircloth (Chris) and Nicole Batt (Justin), her grandchildren, Sophia Faircloth, Austin Batt and Logan Batt, and Aunt Patricia Patterson. She is preceded in death by her mother Phyllis Puck, father J.G. Bray and brother Norman Bray.
The Bjorklund family would like to cordially invite friends and family to a memorial service at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Wesley Covenant Chapel on March 23, 2018 at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Deby's honor
