

He was born 83 years ago in Cleveland Ohio to William A. and Elsie W. (Miller) Peterschewski. The family changed their surname to Peters before WWII. Don left John Adams High School to join the war effort in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Beckham and the USS Joseph P Kennedy DD-850 destroyer and later was member of the Tin Can Sailors. While on a Navy leave and visiting Lincoln Park at Dartmouth, Mass, Don met his future wife, Jane R Sylvia of New Bedford, Mass. They were married shortly after Don’s discharge and they made their home in Cleveland, Ohio. As a young man, Don was a member of DeMolay and Avon Lake JayCee’s. Don became a Mason at Mid Century Lodge No 725 in Avon Lake, Ohio, achieving Master Mason status and eventually a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shriners.
Don’s career began installing HVAC equipment as a young man and eventually earned corporate positions with Penn Controls, Robertshaw, Amana, and Sundstrand. Don has lived in 7 states in his career and lived in 24 different homes.
Don loved golf, good food, and cocktails with his friends and family, especially at New Bedford Country Club. He enjoyed over 30 years of wintering in Florida for the golf and socializing. To complete a dream, Don proudly graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland in 2008. Don’s survivors are his wife Jane, married for 64 years. His two children, Bruce D Peters of Kansas City, MO, Cynthia J Dueringer (Larry) of Lenexa, KS. He enjoyed his 4 grandchildren, Christopher Peters, Monica Myers (William), Adrienne Dueringer (Ronnie Paul), and Terrence Dueringer (Jolene) and his 3 great-granddaughters, Charlene Dueringer, Magdalene Myers, and Eleanor Dueringer.
Don wanted no funerals or flowers or tears, he simply wanted everyone to raise a drink in his honor and toast to him,
“Na Zdrowie”.
