Donald Eugene Porter, 94, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who was loved by everyone.
He was born on May 10, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles W. and Zola E. (Jones) Porter. Donald served in the military bravely during WWII. Donald loved to work with his hands, reading books, woodworking and working on cars. His interests were so passionate his career consisted of auto mechanics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Madeline, and son, Donald L. Porter.
Donald is survived by his son, Michael Porter and his wife Sheryl and daughter-in- law Pat Porter. Left behind to cherish his memory are his 4 grandchildren: Holly, Heather, Hannah, and Andy. His loving family also includes 6 great-grandchildren.
Donald’s visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 14th at the McGilley and Frye Funeral Home 105 E. Loula St. Olathe, Kansas. With funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the services in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 13901 South Black Bob Rd. Olathe, Kansas.
