“Doug” as he was known by his family and friends was born on April 16, 1957 in Olathe, Kansas to Glenn Harlen and Bernadette Jeanne (Rosner) Blume. He attended and graduated from Olathe High School. Doug loved sports. He was an avid athlete throughout his entire life and excelled in every sport he played- football, baseball, bowling, and especially golf. He was a member of the Men’s Gold League at Heritage Golf Course. There he made no fewer than 6 holes in one. He enjoyed cheering for and “armchair coaching” the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
In his early life, Doug spent many years working for the Olathe Block Company alongside his dad and uncles. Later, he worked in maintenance for Earp Distribution. He enjoyed spending time with family and his golf buddies. Doug especially found great enjoyment in caring for his shih tzu, “JuJu Bug”.
Doug is preceded in death by his father Glenn Harlen Blume. He is survived by his loving mother, Bernadette Blume; faithful companion, Marcella Lorraine Guillory; sister, Glenda Aguilar and her husband Patrick of Lenexa, Kansas; and brother, Phil Blume and his wife Danielle of Topeka, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Cierra McClendon, C.J. Randall and Ashley Randall; nieces and nephews, Courtney Kelly (Mike), Samantha Locricchio (Matt), Nicholas Aguilar (Veronica), Jordan Blume and Mitchell Blume; great nephew, Connor; and great nieces, Kylie and Gianna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 21650 West 115th Terrace Olathe, Kansas. Interment will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at 8321 Quivira Road Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Friday morning prior to the funeral mass at the church. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. immediately following the visitation.
