Douglas was born on April 14, 1965, in Gardner, Kansas, to Willard McCully and Patricia McCully. He spent most of his life in Johnson County and was proud to call Olathe home.
Douglas worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Johnson County Public Works, which later became Johnson County Facilities. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and dedication to his job. He took great pride in his work and in helping keep the community running.
In his free time, Douglas enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and working on cars and trucks. He especially loved going fishing with his family, creating many cherished memories over the years.
Above all, Douglas was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice McCully; his sons, Michael McCully (Sabrina) and Bret McCully; his daughter, Katheryn McCully (Chandler Woodin); his parents, Willard McCully and Patricia McCully; his sister, Kristine Morrison and her husband, Donnie Morrison; his niece, Jessica Morrison; his mother-in-law, Patricia Kaldahl (Gene); and his sister-in-law, Carol Perry.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Joshua Morrison, and his grandparents, Ruth Maloney, Harold Maloney, and Lina McCully.
Douglas will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hardworking nature, and the many memories he shared with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.
A visitation will be held at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS. on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
