Earl Edmond Haines, Sr. was born on August 20, 1947 in Hollywood, California. Earl and Patricia were married November 4, 1967 in Montebello, California at the Lorelei Chapel. In Earl’s younger years he worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach California as a Rotor Shaper Operator- carving airplane windows. In January 1968 Earl was drafted to the Army at 20 years of age. He was stationed at Fort Ord Based in Monterey, California and finished training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served honorably in the Vietnam War as an expert gunner with his Brother-in-Arms until January 1970. After 1970 Earl served in reserves for from 1970-1974. After his honorable service Earl then worked for General Motors in Southgate, California as an Assembly line Inspector from 1971 to 1982. In 1982 the General Motors Southgate plant closed and Earl and his family then moved to Kansas City, Kansas in July of 1983 to work at the Fairfax plant. Earl continued his work with General Motors for 17 years later. After working for the Kansas plant Earl then worked in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1993 Earl returned to Kansas City, Kansas Fairfax plant retiring in July of 2000 after working for General Motors for 30 years. He had several friends and many co-workers that he surely enjoyed working with over the years. Earl was baptized Serbian Orthodox 2017 by priests Father Aleksandar Bugarin and Father Radomir Plavsic. Earl and Patricia had the blessing from God to renew their marriage vows at the church, St. George Serbian Orthodox Church on June 4, 2019 by priest, Father Radomir.
Earl had a variety of hobbies that would peruse and worked hard at. He learned the organ at 14 years of age which he would continue to play for his love of music. He enjoyed the outdoors, partaking in camping, fishing, hunting of deer, snow skiing, golfing, carpentry, and enjoyed very much being a sportsman.
Most of all Earl will be remembered for his love. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his loved ones.
Earl is preceded in death by his loving parents Bill and Ida. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, whom he loved and was married too for 53 years. 2 children – a daughter Lisa Michele and her husband Steve Christopher Hogan; our son, Earl Edmond Haines, Jr.; and our 4 beautiful grandchildren, Earl Deon, Alissa Sueann, Courtney Denise, and Brook Annabella. His sister, Sylvia Elaine Smith and brother, Tony Jr. whom he loved. Close friends Howard and Ethel, and Jenan, and his Godchild Carla Ortiz.
We want to express our gratitude for the love and care Earl received at Cedar Lake Village in Olathe Kansas, Delmar Gardens Nursing Home of Lenexa, Kansas, Redwood Raymore Missouri, Redwood Blue River, Redwood Carmel Hills Independence Missouri, and hospice care VNA Kansas City Missouri, Cass Regional Hospital in Harrisville Missouri. To all the staff at Lynwood Blvd. Veteran’s Hospital and, especially Hospice House in Olathe Kansas, which cared for him including Dr. Sankar Kodidhi and Aron VFW, God bless all of you that took such wonderful care of Earl Sr.
We will greatly miss his wonderful smile and sense of humor, and with God’s will we pray to see him again in heaven.
