Elma Louise Bloom, 87, of Olathe, KS, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Aberdeen Village. A private family prayer service will be held with burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kendallwood Hospice, 2908 NW Vivion Rd., Riverside, MO, 64150.
Elma was born July 22, 1923 in Yuma, AZ, to Alfred and Mary (Balz) Jones. After graduating from high school, she married William Bloom and became a Navy wife. After several moves they settled in Kirkwood, MO. She enjoyed gardening her flowers, playing Bridge and reading.
Mrs. Bloom was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gail Fitter and brother Robert Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Bloom; daughter, Susan (David) Kornelis of Kansas City, MO; 3 grandchildren, Caroline, Kathleen, and Elizabeth and 1 great granddaughter, Anna.
Elma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
The family would also like to thank the nurses at Kendallwood Hospice and the caregivers at Home Instead for the wonderful care they gave Elma.
