Frank Joseph Werkowitch of Olathe passed away on January 3, 2011 at the age of 90. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 7, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 900 S. Honeysuckle, Olathe, where he was a parishioner since 1954. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Little Sisters of the Poor.
Mr. Werkowitch retired as treasurer of James B. Nutter and Company in 1981, after a distinguished career which included service in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, Mr. Werkowitch became one of the first Americans to receive penicillin. Mr. Werkowitch is survived by his sisters, Margaret Seifner and Marie Sokol, and a host of other relatives, who will all miss his stories, his sharp wits, and his keen sense of humor. Mr. Werkowitch’s long and full life is marked by his devotion to his Heavenly Father and his love of family and travel.
