Raised in Olathe, Kansas, George attended a country school there and grew up with 12 siblings. George served in the United States Navy from June 1950 to April 1954. After his military service, he took over his father’s trash route, approaching work with the same devoted, hard-working reliability that would define his life. He later became an over-the-road truck driver, a role that reflected his perseverance and sense of responsibility, until his retirement in 1990.
George, beloved by those who knew him-carried himself with steady honesty and a kind-hearted spirit. In the way that mattered most, he showed compassionate patience and a thoughtful generosity, offering loyalty and care with a quiet selflessness that left a lasting mark on family and friends.
On February 18, 1956, George married Rosemary Alford in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they built a family grounded in devotion and care. He was proceeded in death by his parents John S. Manning and Willa L. Manning, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Rosemary (Alford) Manning of Edgerton, Kansas, a son Bruce A. Manning of Edgerton, Kansas and his twin daughters, Vicki M. Manning and Vonda L. Manning both of Olathe, Kansas, two sisters Jean Locke of Gardner, Kansas and Martha Cupp of Olathe, Kansas along with many nieces and nephews.
