

Hazel Nadine Lewis, 86, of Spring Hill, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 2, 2013. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Hazel was born on July 7, 1927 in La Harp, Kansas to Harry and Ruth (Caldwell) Delaplain. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker, drawing her full attention to her husband and family. Nothing gave her more pleasure that spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hazel enjoyed sewing, playing board games and especially card games. She married the love of her life Clarence W. Lewis in Burlington, Kansas on August 13, 1945. She was a member of the Methodist church. One of her special achievements in life was when she was awarded the Worthy Matron Eastern Star.
She will be sadly missed.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Ruth Delaplain, daughter Betty Lou Caldwell and grandson Jason Donovan. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Clarence W. Lewis, daughters: Judy Donovan and her husband Terry of Olathe, Kansas and Tresea Hill and her husband Mike of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren: Tami Caldwell, Melynda Marquardt and her husband Jeff, Ryan Hill, and Jared Hill and his wife Lisa. She will be sadly missed by her six great grandchildren: Elysa, Kelsey, Braeden, Garrett, Burklee and Hampton. Hazel is also survived by her brother Verle Delaplain and his wife Dorothy of Eugene, Oregon.
Graveside service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.
