Heidrun "Heidi" Charlotte Taylor

She was born on January 17, 1942, in Glogau, Silesia, Germany (now Głogów, Poland) to Kate and Walter Weber, while her father served as a chaplain in the German Army. Post-war life brought significant hardship for her family, leading to her parents' eventual separation. Heidi chose to live with her father, while her sister remained with their mother. Following her father's unexpected passing, Heidi was left homeless for a time, unable to contact her family. Though details of that era remain quiet, she was eventually reunited with her mother and sister years later.

In August 1965, Heidi met and married Curtis Reeves while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They welcomed their daughter, Corrina Elsie, in Berlin, Germany in 1966, and their son, Devlan Duane, in Falls Church, Virginia in 1967. After divorcing in 1991, Heidi later married Troy Taylor in 1993. Together, they made their home in Olathe, where they loved taking drives through the countryside and spending time working in the yard.

One of Heidi’s proudest moments came in October 1976, when she officially became a United States citizen. She worked dedicatedly throughout her life, retiring from Sprint after 28 years of service.

Heidi is survived by her husband Troy Taylor, her sister, Sieglinde (Siegi), and brother-in-law, Karl-Heinz; her children, Corrina and Devlan; her grandchildren, Jacob, Brett, Katie, Amanda, Emily, Sydney, and Jenna; and 16 great-grandchildren.

While those milestones frame the timeline of her life, they barely begin to capture the warmth, depth, and beauty of the woman so many came to cherish. She possessed a rare and gifted heart for hospitality, opening her door and extending genuine care with equal grace to long-time family members and the homeless friends she met along her way. With nothing more than a gentle glance and a kind word, she had an effortless ability to make anyone feel deeply seen, loved, and valued. To simply call her generous would be a profound understatement; giving was the very core of who she was. Above every standard achievement, her truest lifelong mission was sharing the love of Jesus Christ and guiding others into a personal, lasting relationship with Him

A Celebration of Life will be held at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061, US, on July 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
