Helen R. White, 89, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family and made her entrance to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Helen was born on May 13, 1924 in Johnston City, Illinois to Troy and Mae (Stanton) Lane. She attended and graduated from Herrin High School. She so enjoyed attending her church, currently Church of the Harvest, Olathe, Kansas and had wonderful memories and friends from Abundant Life Church, Church of the Solid Rock and Olathe Assembly of God. She loved her Tuesday morning Bible Study and all the ladies attending. She loved her God and served Him all her life. She was active and was still driving and doing her “own thing running around”. She didn’t like relying on others for that. One of her favorite things to do was talk on the phone to her family and friends. She was a “feisty” little lady throughout her life and that was evident even close to the end. She will be greatly missed.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents: Troy and Mae Lane, devoted husband Samuel R. White, four brothers: Kenneth Lane, Luvern Lane, Troy Lane Jr. and Robert Lane, two sisters: Marie James and Opal Wolfley and her beloved son-in-law, Larry Thomas. Survivors include her loving daughter Sandra (Sandi) Thomas of Olathe, Kansas and three sisters: Betty DeHart of Cherokee, Alabama, Dorothy Reynolds of Herrin, Illinois and Mavis Sedlak of Pharr, Texas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her two grandchildren: Dawn Atwell and her husband Sam of Olathe, Kansas and Michael Thomas and his wife Jennifer of Olathe Kansas. She will be sadly missed by her seven great grandchildren: Samantha, Amber, Kyle, Jager, Emily, Noah and Aubrie. Rest in Peace GW (Geeja).
