Howard David Lynch, 47, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 5, 2021 in Lawrence, KS. Howard was born in Wichita, KS on July 23, 1973, moved to Olathe, KS in 1976 and lived in Lawrence for the past 22 years.
Howard, also known as Howie and Word, is survived by his parents David and Vivian Lynch, his 7 siblings, Ann Lynch, Jane Kessler (Kyle Kessler), MaryClare Lynch (David Lackey), Erin Smith (Scott Smith), Meaghan Green (Chris Green), Michael Lynch (Katie Lynch), Patrick Lynch (Lindsay Lynch), 14 nephews and nieces, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Howard graduated from Olathe South in 1991 and studied liberal arts at Johnson County Community College and Highland Community College before working in the family business for over 15 years.
Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially nephews and nieces, and his countless friends. He had a natural ability to connect with everyone he encountered and he was never without a story or experience to share. He was an avid music and vinal enthusiast who never missed an episode of Jeopardy or MASH. He was constantly reading books and it was nearly impossible to beat him at Scrabble.
Howard was well versed in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking. He longed to travel and spent as much time as possible outdoors. Growing up he was active in Boy Scouts and always enjoyed kickball, softball, hiking, camping, mounting biking, rock climbing, rafting or idly canoeing down a river. He also spent time in Fort Robinson, NE participating in an archaeological dig.
Howard carried a gentle soul and welcomed everyone with open arms. His contagious laugh, warm smile and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be held on May 22, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 21650 W 115th Ter, Olathe, KS.
