

James Michael “Mike” Cox, 65, of Paola, KS, passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, September 20, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula, Olathe. Funeral service will be at 10am, Tuesday, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, with burial following in Osawatomie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Mid-America Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6811 Shawnee Mission Pkwy #202, Mission, KS 66202.
Mike was born July 27, 1945 in Lawrence, KS to Percy and Pauline (Rodgers) Cox. On August 17, 1968 he married the love of his life, Anita Habiger. In 2009, he retired after 20+ years with DST Systems. During his youth, he loved playing baseball and basketball. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Mike took great pride in mowing his 5 acres while his dog, Liebchen, supervised. He was a caring, patient, logical man with a wonderful sense of humor.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Anita of the home; 2 sons, Stefan Cox of Atlanta, GA, Brett and Cheryl Cox of Belton, MO; his father; 1 brother, Jeff and Tina Cox and 4 grandchildren, Garrett, Drew, Lauren & Aubrey.
Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him!
