James Curtis McCoy, 75, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
“Jim” as he was known by his family and friends was born on December 2, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas to Curtis Ralph and Marjorie Lula (Williams) McCoy. He attended White Church Elementary School in Bethel, Kansas and graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas. He then continued his education at Emporia State University where he played football.
After graduation James worked at a printing company at Fairfax. He had a real estate career with Coldwell Bankers. Then for the next 18 years he went on to do real estate seminars around the country. He worked in Construction with remodeling and repairs owning his own business, “Homeowner’s Link”. His passion was to create and build which lead him to build a second story to his family home.
He enjoyed working on cars and was an avid Chief’s fan, he loved watching them win the Super Bowl. He also enjoyed going to the lake and listening to “Awesome Bob” play his music. One of his favorite things to do was to sit on the deck and play cards with his wife all summer long. He especially enjoyed watching documentaries on “Big Foot” and “UFO’s”.
Jim was a member of First Faith Pentecostal Church in Overland Park, Kansas. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his grandchildren watching them play sports and dancing.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Marjorie McCoy and his brother Robert (Bud) Eugene McCoy. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Rosemary Alice Graham of the home, the mother of his daughter Denise McCoy, his only daughter Sarah Marie McCoy, and three step-sons James Westbrook, and his daughter Taylor, Jeffrey Westbrook and his wife Stephanie and their kids Jayden, Aubriana, Olivia, Jaxton, Kane and Vivian and Arthur (Jake) Lee Graham IV and his wife Kelsey and their kids Arthur, Owen and Raegan. He will be sadly missed by his sister Lynda McCoy, sister-in-law Judith McCoy and her sons Sean Lucas McCoy and his wife Andrea and Robert Curtis McCoy along with several great nieces and great nephews.
“Celebration of Life” honoring the life of James Curtis McCoy will be Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. First Faith Pentecostal Church 8633 West 167th Street Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 4:30 p.m. at the church.
