Jim graduated from Olathe High School in 1965 and from Finlay Engineering College with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1969. He worked for various firms in the Kansas City area for 42 years and enjoyed each day.
He was a member of Kappa Sigma Kappa engineering fraternity, Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe Historical Society, and was a Master Judge with the Kansas City Barbeque Society. In retirement, he enjoyed volunteering with the Johnson County Christmas Bureau as the grocery department manager.
Jim was passionate about genealogy research and loved detailed craft projects, including building model ships. He read extensively, both fiction and books about history. He loved playing bridge and poker with his friends.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years Sharman Morris and his two children Josh Morris of Denver and Jayme Morris-Hardeman and her husband Brian Hardeman of Manhattan. His grandchildren Trenton and Lily Hardeman were his pride and joy and he was the best Gramps in the world. He is also survived by his brother Mike Morris and wife Karen of Junction City and his sister Pam Morris Kramer and husband John of Olathe and six nieces and nephews. His viewed his Bridge Group (Dick and Vicki Holdman, Bob and Lila Courtney, & Bruce and Pat Koenig) and their children as family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 2 pm at Grace United Methodist Church, Grace Gathering Room, 11485 S. Ridgeview, Olathe.
