H. Jeanene Johnson, 87, of Olathe, Kansas passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. She will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife and Mother, a cherished NaNa, and a friend to everyone she met.
Jeanene, as she was known by her family and friends was born on September 20, 1932 in Olathe, Kansas to Guy Lester and Helen H. (Kueker) McNatt. Jeanene attended and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. During Jeanene’s high school year’s she worked at Paup’s Ice Cream and Soda Fountain. After High School she worked briefly for Southwestern Bell Telephone, riding in to work with her Dad, who also worked for the company. While the family was living in Colorado, Jeanene also worked at A&W Rootbeer. She loved everywhere she worked, however Jeanene put her heart and soul in to being a great wife, Mother and a homemaker.
Jeanene McNatt married the love of her life; Kenneth Lee Johnson on February 14th, 1954, in which they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Through this union together they loving raised their two children, Craig and Janet.
Jeanene had a passion for bowling, reading, bird-watching, Royal’s baseball, gardening and drives in the country, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends and her beloved pets. Nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with them. Jeanene was fortunate to have many life-long friends that she had known since the 1st grade. She will be sadly missed by all.
Jeanene was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Johnson (August 4, 2018), and her parents, Helen H. McNatt and Guy Lester McNatt. Jeanene is survived by one son, Craig Allen Johnson and wife Barbara of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and one daughter Janet Lee Williams and husband Mike of DeSoto, Kansas. Left behind to cherish their sweet NaNa are 8 grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Jeanene also leaves behind a cherished brother, Bill McNatt of Paola, KS and sister, Karen Dewey of Olathe, KS and three wonderful nephews! Beloved pets Honey, and Muffin also survive of the home.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Monticello United Methodist Church at 23860 W. 75th Street, Shawnee, Kansas 66227. Interment was held in the Monticello Union Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas on June 5th, 2020 at a private family gathering.
