Jenice Louise (Brehm) Winters, of Overland Park, Kansas, died Sunday, July 17, 2016. Jenice was born on the family farm home near Woodbine, Kansas on May 24, 1927. She was the youngest of six and the last surviving child born to Herman and Emma Brehm. After graduating from Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman, KS, she worked as a receptionist for a doctor’s office in Herington, KS, before marrying Melvin L. Winters, former superintendent of the Olathe School District, on September 4, 1947. They were married for 65 years. Jenice will be remembered for her love she extended to her immediate and extended family; a person with a strong and unwavering faith; and for the work she has done for her church and the community.
Survivors include children: Timothy Winters (Linda), Melanie Busse (Kent), Ty Winters (Brie), and Jill Harrelson; grandchildren: Kari Gable, Molly Winters, Tyler Harrelson (Kristin), Jake Winters (Kelly), Jamie Winters, Emma Winters; and great-grandchildren: Colin Gable, McFerran Gable, Quinlyn Jenice Gable, Kate Louise Harrelson and Hannah Winters Harrelson: and lastly, her furry companion the last few years, Woody. Jenice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and four sisters.
Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 S. Ridgeview Road, Olathe, KS. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at the Woodbine, Kansas Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe.
