

Joane Walker, 61, of Prairie Village, KS, died unexpectedly on December 11, 2016, at home following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Eleanor Walker, brother Steve and nephew, Simon Cvetkovich. She is survived by brothers, James (Mary Lynn) of Wichita, Wayne (Martha) of Overland Park, sister, Jeanne Cvetkovich of Wichita, brother, John of Birmingham, AL, two nephews and five nieces.
Joane attended Washburn University and later Wichita State then began her career as a CPA. She retired after almost 40 years. Joane worked for Wichita’s leading accounting firms including Ernst Young and KPMG Peat Marwick. She later went in-house for private and public companies in Wichita, Chicago, Nashville and Kansas City, including Koch Industries, TWA and Sprint where she held management and officer positions. She served eight years on the National Financial Reporting Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants, providing input to the Financial Accounting Standards Board establishing accounting standards.
Joane adored her beloved Yorkies. She had many interests and avocations including quilting, Pilates, politics, moderating author panels, and the KC Chiefs. She was a fun-loving and generous woman with a great sense of humor, heart-warming laugh and sincere humanity. She made the effort to be a good and loving friend, daughter, sister and aunt.
Joane’s life will be celebrated at Greystone Steak & Seafood, 9719 E. 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. on December 16.
