John P. Blaine, 75, of Stilwell, KS, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 29, 2013. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met. He was his family’s continent and constancy. Always a kind, reliable, generous provider; he did it all with a bit of special humor.
John was born on August 19, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Theodore M. and Marguerite (Johnson) Blaine. He attended and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College. John worked as a cook and manager for Sydney’s Restaurant, as an insurance agent for National Life and Accident and retired after 34 years of service with General Motors. John married the love of his life Sharon Kaye Harms on July 23, 1966. Together they raised two loving daughters, Tammy and Jeanette. He will be greatly missed.
John is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon, his daughters Tammy L. Phillips and her husband Brian of Spring Hill, KS and Jeanette M. Blaine of Tucson, AZ. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two grandsons, Seth M. Phillips and Garret J. Phillips. John is also survived by his brother Paul W. Blaine and his wife Sue of Springfield, MO and sister Ada Margret Carney Mazza of Sebastian, FL.
John was cremated according to his wishes. A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
