Josephine Jesus Reyes, age 75, passed away on April 2, 2026. Born on October 7, 1950, in Mexico, Josephine was a beloved and cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. She was loyal, and selfless throughout her life, leaving a legacy of steady love and quiet strength. She was a resident of Kansas City, Missouri. After this introduction, she will be remembered by the name so many knew and loved as: "Josie".
Josie was born on October 7, 1950 in Leon Guanajuato Mexico. She was a lifelong Kansas City Resident. She attended Guardian Angels Grade School and graduated from Lillis High School, “Class of 1968.”
Josie built a dedicated working life in telecommunications, beginning as a Data Entry employee for Southwestern Bell. She then worked for AT&T and completed her career by retiring from the IRS. Her work reflected the same reliability and commitment that defined her in every part of life.
A member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Josie was always reliable and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She gave herself willingly to do whatever she could for her family and never asked for anything in return.
Josie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and finding joy in caring for others in the most personal way. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than the time she spent with her grandson “Zen”. He was the love of her life, and she adored him and loved him very-very much.
Josie also enjoyed listening to music and especially dancing. She was especially and totally fond of “The Beatles,” and she even had a full collection of their collectable picture cards.
Josie is preceded in death by her loving parents Serapio and Linda Reyes, brother Damian Reyes, nephew Andrew Reyes and her great-nephew Isaac Reyes. She is survived by her son Mark Reyes and his wife Stacy of the home; sister Michelle Ibarra and her husband Jesse of Kansas City, Kansas; and her brother Jim Reyes Jr. and his wife Linda of Kansas City, Missouri. Left behind to cherish her memory is her grandson Zen Reyes. She will be sadly missed by her two Godsons, Nicholas Ibarra and Luke Reyes along with many nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.
Josie will be cremated according to her wishes. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026 starting at 10:00 a.m. Guardian Angels Catholic Church 1310 Westport Rd. Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Inurnment in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum 1150 North 38th Street Kansas City, Kansas.
