Kim was born on July 18, 1967, to Bobby Joe and Ellen Gregory Hawkins. After Kim graduated from Paola High School in 1985, she went on to study Elementary Education at Heston College and Goshen College. Upon graduation, she taught elementary for almost two decades. Her love for literature led her to finish her teaching career as a junior high English teacher at Maranatha Christian Academy in 2022. At the time of death, Kim worked for PT Solutions as a Patient Services Coordinator.
Despite her career achievements, Kim’s favorite roles were being a wife and mom. She met the love of her life, Ron Redick, in 1996, and they were married in 1997. Their 28 years of marriage were marked by joy, devotion, and reflecting God’s love for His church. In the early years of their marriage, they gave birth to two lovely daughters, Mellenie Jeanne Redick and Macie Robyn Redick. Kim was a nurturing mother, actively involved in her children’s lives and central to many beautiful memories with her family.
In her free time, Kim would most often be found spending time with family and friends, whether around the table playing games, adventuring around town, or catching up over the phone. She also loved to travel, notably spending a trimester of college in Costa Rica; honeymooning in Germany, France, Switzerland, and Austria; and, just recently, cruising the Caribbean.
Kim had a gift for bringing family and friends together and loving them well through encouraging words, kind hospitality, and plenty of food. Kim was a patient and wise teacher both in the classroom and out. Kim loved her Lord with all her heart and was a walking picture of His grace to all who knew her.
Kim is survived by her husband Ron Redick, daughter Mellenie and her husband Jack Porter, daughter Macie and her husband Jesse Nielsen, brother Wayne and his wife Jan Hawkins, and honorary family members, David and Dixie Borovicka.
She joins in death her father Bobby Joe Hawkins, mother Ellen Gregory Hawkins, and brother Gregory Keith Hawkins.
