LaVerna Marie Smith Randall

LaVerna Marie Randall, 85, of Olathe, KS., passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to everyone she met.

LaVerna was born on July 30, 1928 in Hale MO. She was one of eight children born to Carmel and Bessie (Jeffries) Smith. She attended and graduated from Missouri School for the Deaf and received her training as a licensed Cosmetologist. She married the love of her life Jack Leon Randall on January 31, 1948. LaVerna worked in Olathe for many years in spite of her deafness. She had a wonderful following and many dear friends. She has been an active member of the Olathe deaf community and has served in many ways.

LaVerna is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Jack, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her three children; Vickie Baska and her husband Steve, Janice Maring and Bill Randall and his wife Joni.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her six grandchildren and their spouses: Brett Hale, Erin (Jeremy) Pfaff, Matt Maring, Marisa (Scott) Flinn, Ashley (Brian) Cooper and Dalton Randall.

She will be sadly missed by her eight great grandchildren; David, Allison, Brett Jr., Randy, Kate, Claire, Stella, Caleb and soon to be nine.

LaVerna is also survived by her two sisters; Melba Swope and her husband Charles, Ruby Mayden and son-in-law Stan Maring along with many many friends.

LaVerna was cremated according to her wishes. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula St. Olathe, KS. 66061. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Deaf Cultural Center 455 E.
