Ludella Hoggatt, 77, met her Savior and joined her husband on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Ludella was born to Lonnie and Alta Webb on December 7, 1943 in Bremerton, Washington. The family moved to Fort Scott, Kansas six months later. Ludella attended all schools in Fort Scott and was a member of International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Ludella and William (Bill) Hoggatt married on December 10, 1961 in Fort Scott. The couple moved to Olathe in 1964 where they joined Grace United Methodist Church. Ludella retired from Sprint North Supply in 1999 after 27 years of service and her husband retired that same year from the Olathe Fire Department with 33 years of service. They worked hard to retire early and traveled extensively across the United States, enjoyed many cruises, and made a second home in Mesa, Arizona. They spent winters in Mesa and summers in Gardner. The couple were married 59 years. She was a doting wife, mother, and grandmother and loved to brag about her family. She loved and was intentional about planning family reunions. She and Bill began the tradition of yearly get-togethers for the retirees of the Olathe Fire Department.
Ludella will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind heart, love of family, warm hospitality, and sweet giggle.
Ludella was preceded in death by her husband Bill in January of 2021; her mother Alta Johnson Webb in 1975, and her father Lonnie Webb in 2002 and three sisters: Virginia Sickmyre of Olathe, Mary Ann Kahler of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lonna Bush of Grove, Oklahoma.
Survivors include two sons: Charles and spouse Rhonda of Gardner, Kansas and Greg of Ottawa, Kansas; daughter, Rebecca Ahlenstorf of Spring Hill, Kansas; grandchildren: Tarin, Colten, Wyatt and spouse Jenn, Brandy and spouse Ray, and Whitney; great grandchildren: Cade, Cody and Bailey.
Friends and family may pay tribute from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at a public visitation on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, Kansas 66061. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 am. A committal service will occur immediately following with interment at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 13901 Black Bob Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062.
