Mark Stephan Larson Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the age of 75. A devoted father, loving brother, and loyal friend, Mark lived his life with quiet strength, deep compassion, and an abiding love for family, sports, and the water.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 21, 1949, Mark spent most of his childhood in McPherson, Kansas, where he developed a lifelong passion for athletics. He played basketball all four years of high school, embracing the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—principles that would shape his character for years to come.
Mark went on to attend Kansas State University, earning his undergraduate degree before pursuing a law degree at the University of Mississippi. He built a respected career in law, but his greatest joys were found outside the office: coaching baseball, sailing, and sharing his love of sports and the outdoors with others.
Whether leading a Little League team, navigating open waters, or simply spending time with his family, Mark brought energy, thoughtfulness, and a quiet confidence to everything he did. His mentorship, kindness, and humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Virginia Larson. He is survived by his sister, Kris Patton (76), and his son, Mark Stephan Larson Jr. (28), who proudly carries on his father’s name, values, and adventurous spirit.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his warm heart, and the love he gave freely to those around him. Mark’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—on the field, in the courtroom, and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
