Marsella Blanche (Kramer) Burns Barrett, 91, of Gardner, Kan passed away April 1, 2012. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday April 3, 2012 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 4th, at Aberdeen Village, 17500 W. 119th, Olathe, KS, preceded by a family graveside service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Aberdeen Village.
Marsella was born May 28, 1920 to Robert and Blanche (Welborn) Kramer. She was a life-long area resident. Marsella graduated from Gardner High School in 1938. She attended Central Business College in Kansas City, MO. She married John W. “Jack” Burns, Sr. on July 4, 1940 in Olathe. They owned a jewelry store for 29 years in downtown Olathe. She was a homemaker, but also went to Hayes Beauty School in 1968, then had a shop in her home. Later she managed “The Carousel,” a children’s clothing shop in downtown Olathe. Jack passed away in 1981 and she later married Frederick W. Barrett from London, England on September 6, 1985.
She was an active member of the Gardner Baptist Church, the Olathe Senior Center, the Intergenerational Chorus and Side by Side Singers and Strutters.
Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack and Fred, and brother, Cheldon Kramer. She is survived by her four wonderful children, John W. Burns Jr., Robert Burns, Caren Burns and Paulette (Tom) Bachelor, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one sister, Melba (Gene) Moore.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and forever in our hearts.
