IN THE CARE OF
McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service
Michael George Odom (Mike), 73, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 30, 2022. He will forever be remembered as a gentle giant with a huge heart, selective hearing and the deliberate mangling of the English language, which he did annoy his family with a sparkle in his eye.
Michael was born on October 18, 1948 on a military base in Texas to George William and Lillian Marie (Hunt) Odom. When his father retired from the Air Force, they settled in Orlando, Florida, where he attended and graduated from Colonial High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in England and Germany. Upon return to Orlando he began his career in Auto Body work. He restored and sold many collector cars over the years.
He met his wife Karen when she was in college in Florida in 1974, and they soon married and had their children. They relocated to the Kansas City area in the late 1970s where Karen was from. They built a life in Olathe, KS and raised their children.
Mike’s favorite things to do were fishing with his son and collecting things. He was crazy about his grandchildren and enjoyed spending a lot of time with them.
He is survived by his wife Karen Odom, son Jason Odom, Daughter Angela Odom Warczakoski (Darin), and grandchildren Abigail and Beau Warczakoski.
Michael will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” will take place at a later date.
