

Nellie Darlene Jeffries, 79, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 15, 1946, to William and Marjorie (Crass) Thompson, who preceded her in death.
On November 30, 1962, Darlene married her best friend, Russell Jeffries. They shared 58 years together until his passing in 2020. Two children were born to this union, Richard and Robin.
Darlene cherished her family above all else. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often watching the birds outside her windows and spending daily quiet moments reading her Bible in the warmth of the sun by the patio door. An exceptional cook, she took great pride in preparing meals for those she loved. Darlene also enjoyed staying connected with family through text messages, especially when sharing and receiving photos, most of all pictures of her beloved great-grandchild, whom she adored.
Her survivors include her son, Richard W. Jeffries of Olathe, KS; her daughter, Robin L. Killion (David) of Lenexa, KS; her grandson, Jake J. Miller (Stephanie) and great grandson Jackson of Lenexa, KS. She is also survived by three siblings: Roy W. Thompson (Helen) of Sedalia, MO; Mary L. Persinger of Sedalia, MO; and Donald W. Thompson (Frances) of Sedalia, MO; as well as her sister-in-law, Sherry Thompson of Topeka, KS.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry H. Thompson and Charles H. Thompson; her brothers-in-Lavy, Walter Long and Kap Persinger; her sisters-in-law, Jean long and Vernice Thompson; and her cherished four-legged companion, Buddy.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. Her final resting place will be at Millers Chapel Cemetery in Heath Creek Township, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Millers Chapel Cemetery, c/o Stacy Morton, 27630 Morton Road, Knob Noster, MO 65336.
