It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Marie O’Donovan, 78, of Los Angeles, CA (formerly from Olathe, KS). She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully on September 29, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Patricia was born on May 2, 1945, in Boulder City, NV.
Patricia was a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, and grace. Patricia touched the lives of everyone she met. She spent 26 years working for Olathe School District at Heritage Elementary School. “Miss Pat” was loved by so many children, teachers, and staff. Her legacy of love, compassion, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Patricia is survived by her four beloved children, Patrick (Dee) O’Donovan, Sean O’Donovan, Chris O’Donovan, and Katie (Mike) DeLaet. She was a cherished grandmother to six adoring grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, who will always remember her warmth and love.
In addition to her immediate family, Patricia is remembered fondly by her two brothers, Robert and Larry Apple, and two sisters, Diane Apple and Barbi Wilson. They shared a lifetime of memories and experiences with her. Family was always important to Patricia. She had special places in her heart for all her nieces and nephews too.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband of almost 35 years, Thomas Joseph O’Donovan, her mother Marie K. Apple, her stepfather Carl Apple, and her grandmother Evelyn Finlayson.
A visitation for Patricia will be held at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home in Olathe, KS between 4-8pm on November 9, 2023. Funeral will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe KS at 10 AM on November 10, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alzheimer Association.
