Paul Martin Pruett, Jr. of Olathe, Kansas lost his battle with cancer and departed from his Olathe home, surrounded by loved ones, on December 16, 2018 to be greeted by his Lord and Savior in his new heavenly home.
Paul was born on January 10, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to Paul Martin Pruett, Sr. and Velma Rose (Curtis) Pruett. He graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Kansas City College and Bible School in 1968. He married Rachelle (Shelli) Masden in 1968 and together they spent 15 years as missionaries to Taiwan under the direction of the Evangelical Wesleyan Mission. Throughout the years, he taught in several Christian schools and colleges. He pastored the Olathe Church of God (holiness) for 19 years, only recently retiring due to poor health, and worked for First Student as a bus driver and bus monitor. Paul’s life was fully dedicated to the God he loved and he spent his entire life serving God and others, leaving behind a Godly example to all who were blessed to have known him. He was a loving and faithful husband, a patient and compassionate father, a beloved and fun grandfather, a dedicated pastor, and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Pruett, Sr. and Velma Rose Pruett. He is survived by his wife, Shelli Pruett and three daughters and sons in law; Tamara (Craig) Giles of Kansas City, Missouri, Teresa (Garrett) Epp of Olathe, Kansas, and Tanya (Ian) Ranney of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, and five grandchildren; Ashton, Kiley and Sophia Ranney and Caroline and Oliver Epp.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at the Overland Park Church of God (holiness), 6801 W. 74th St., Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Evangelical Wesleyan Mission, Wesleyan Sioux Chapel, and Gideon International, all causes which were dear to his heart.
