Peggy A. Groszek

February 3, 1933November 16, 2019

Peggy Ann Workman Groszek was born to Arden Ross and Fern Augusta (Andrews) Workman on February 3, 1933 in Lockwood, Missouri. She lost her battle with cancer on November 16, 2019. On July 2, 1951 she married Jim Groszek in Fullerton, California. Jim and Peggy have two daughters, Susan (Evan) Wolfe, Joliet, Montana and Patti (Larry) Wilbur, Olathe, Kansas. They have 3 grandchildren – Jim Laney, Jamie Mowrey and J.J. Zipperlen and 4 great grandchildren – Ashlyn and Harrison Laney and Beckham and Brooklyn Mowrey. Her siblings, Bill and Betty, as well as her parents welcomed her to heaven.

Peggy was quite skilled at embroidery and knitting. Growing roses and baking were also hobbies. She worked at the Sunflower Skating Rink for many years where she taught skating classes and kept the kids in line with her whistle. When her girls moved beyond spending their free time at the rink, she began volunteering for the Olathe Police Department’s Operation Lifeline and, in her spare time, baked thousands of loaves of quick bread for the Olathe Police and Firemen. She enjoyed meeting many officers over the years and considered each one of them part of her extended family. She looked forward to delivering bread regularly and sharing her recipes when asked. She considered being “The Bread Lady” one of her greatest joys.
